Soundstream Adelaide New Music Festival
Soundstream: Adelaide New Music Festival is a celebration of New Music in Australia. Founded in 2008 by Gabriella Smart, the festival aims to create a profile for contemporary classical music in South Australia and to reflect and shape contemporary Australian culture through excellence in new music performance practice, composition and education.
The Rebels

The Brian Ritchie Trio features Violent Femmes bassist and shakuhachi master Brian ‘Tairaku’ Ritchie with acclaimed jazz musicians Tom Vincent and Leigh Barker. Together they create an eclectic and spontaneous musical event, blending Ritchie‘s own music with traditional Japanese melodies and the modern composition of Coltrane, Cage and Alyer.
Their program for the festival includes the première of John Cage’s Ryoanji with its original instrumentation.
The Larrikins

Acclaimed contemporary cellist John Addison performs a program of new works especially commissioned for the Festival. Featuring young Australian composers Luke Altmann, Kat McGuffie, Alex Pozniak and Stephen Stanfield.
